Redbones Pecan Pie

Southern Pie Crust

Mix the following:
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • Cut in 1/2 cup Crisco
  • Add approximately 3 tbsp. ice water to bring to consistency.
Refrigerate approximately 1/2 hr. before use.


Redbones Pecan Pie Filling

Cream the following in a mixer:
  • 4 Tbs. butter
  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar
Then add:
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/8 tbsp. salt
  • 1 tbsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark corn syrup
Continue to mix well.

In a pie shell

Fill pie shell with whole pecans. Then add pie filling to top of pie pan. Let settle then bake at 300o F until done. Serve with fresh whipped cream.

Helpful hint: you can try covering the exposed edges of your pie crust with a thin band of aluminum foil to help prevent them from burning.
