REDBONES TAKES A LITERARY TURN
Somerville, MA -- Redbones and Haley Booksellers serve up a taste of the South at the launch party for MY SUMMER OF SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT, the debut novel by Somerville author Stephanie Gayle. "MY SUMMER OF SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT is set in Macon, Georgia, so I thought what better place to host my book launch party than Redbones BBQ? It has Southern food and hospitality and doesn't require a 1,000-mile road trip," says Gayle. The party on Monday, June 25th at 7:30pm is free and open to the public; signed copies of the book will be available for sale.
"Everyone knows Redbones for their great BBQ, but it's the restaurant's other interests that really make it one of our favorite places. Beer, bicycles, baseball, and now, books," says Jesse Haley of Haley Booksellers who has co-hosted other book events at Redbones. Because of several firsts, Haley thinks this party has special appeal: MY SUMMER OF SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT is Gayle's first novel, the public will be seeing it for first time - the official release in June 26th - and this will be Gayle's first public reading from the book.
Miles from Macon, Redbones downstairs bar/dining room is the setting for the party. Complimentary appetizers will be served; drinks are a la carte. In addition to the full bar and beer, a selection of Southern inspired drinks for the occasion include the Peach Pit: Stoli peach vodka, lemonade & soda water and SoCo (Southern Comfort) & Lime as a shot or over ice.
About MY SUMMER OF SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT
Natalie Goldberg, a Harvard-educated lawyer, leaves a prestigious New York firm to prosecute criminals in Macon, Georgia. During the course of her first summer and first death penalty case in the South, her life changes and what looked like a wrong turn might end up being the best decision of her life. MY SUMMER OF SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT is about falling apart, letting go, and finally coming home to the most unexpected of places.
