REDBONES PLANS MAJOR LEAGUE PARTY
FOLLOWING SOX HOME OPENER
Davis Square, Somerville, MA - It's root, root, root for the home team on Monday, April 11 when Redbones throws a baseball dinner following the Red Sox home opener. There will be video of the '04 World Series,
baseball trivia and prizes, and a special Redbones menu of ballpark fare all for $35.00 per person. The event starts at 7:05 PM. Call 617.628.2200 for reservations.
'We hope the Sox will beat the Yankees in the home opener but whatever the score, we want fans to come and celebrate the new season watching high lights from the world series and enjoying our take on Fenway Franks,' says Redbones co-owner Caryn Whitney. In addition to franks, the menu includes sausages, ribs, ice cream sandwiches and more ballpark fare.
Redbones received attention during the World Series for serving Bud only if the patron showed a Missouri license or came in with a Cardinals' cap. A little good natured support in Red Sox nation since Bud is brewed in St. Louis, home town of the Sox Series' rival. But the April 11 dinner starts a new season and Bud will be served along with Boston brews Sam Adams and Harpoon.
Games and Prizes
Redbones dinners always include trivia and prizes. Pete Allen, fielder of Redbones take out calls, will pitch questions like, who holds the major league record for most doubles in a single season? Hint: it's a Red Sox player from the 1930's whose name will be revealed at the dinner. Not all questions will be difficult, though Allen is no rookie when it comes to stats. In his spare time he assembles posters of player's stats organized by position. Annually updated posters, which are 10' x 5', are available for each of major league's 16 original teams. The Red Sox version hangs in the bar at Redbones.
Whether or not superstitions won the Series, there were many claims made. Redbones wants to hear yours - so bring them, figuratively, to the Opening Dinner and a prize will be given for the 'most helpful' in winning the pennant. 'Who knows, it may work again this year,' says Whitney.
Redbones, at 55 Chester Street in Somerville, is open 7 days for lunch, dinner and late night dining. Mixed drinks are available from the bar as well as a carefully selected assortment of hand crafted beers on draft and in bottles. In addition, Redbones caters parties from 5 - 5,000.
