Twenty-one years ago, Caryn Whitney & Rob Gregory opened Redbones, a BBQ joint in Davis Square. At the time, there were few restaurants north of the Mason-Dixon line serving authentic real pit barbecue. Redbones filled the niche and became the go to place for great Southern food and hospitality. There have been many milestones since - in 1994 Redbones bought the building at 55 Chester Street including Barnaby's, the bar next door, and opened the downstairs - dubbed Underbones.
In 1995, Redbones installed a 24 tap system to serve not the most, but simply the best craft beers available - the marriage of pit master and brew master under one roof. Also in 1996, Redbones introduced first-in-the-nation Bicycle Valet Parking - an early green initiative benefiting both cyclists and neighbors.

Along the way, Redbones took the show on the road with travelling rigs capable of smoking whole hogs and building a catering business in demand for outdoor events and private parties.
With all of its success, Redbones remains true to its founding philosophy of giving back to the community and, first and foremost,
being a neighborhood spot - where almost everyone really does know your name!
